Muzafar Ali Khan memorial polo tournament launched in Chitral
CHITRAL: Muzafar Ali Khan memorial polo tournament launched in Chitral. President All Pakistan Muslim League Chitral Shahzada Khalid Parvez was chief guest on inaugural ceremony who also supporting the tournament financially. Some 27 polo teams will participate in the tournament. The tournament was dedicated to late Muzafar Ali Khan who have rendered meritorious services for Chitral polo teams. He born on 22nd June 1923 and played as best player in Shundor, Gilgit, Phandar and Chitral polo (teams) matches who won a dozen of winner trophies for his team. He passes away on 22 June 2012. His elder son Maqbool Ali Khan, his brother Maqsood Ali Khan and grand son Azhar Ali Khan also associated with this traditional game without patronizing and support of government. Young players were specially engaged in the tournament to be encouraged and trained as next generation players. Shahzada Khalid Parvez while talking to this scribe said that we launched this tournament to encourage and fulfill hobby of polo players of Chitral because usually no polo match is playing in this season. Polo is considering king of games or game of Kings it is a traditional game of Chitral people who continue their cultural and traditional norms despite in this back broken dearness era and acute difficulties to players.
